The version of this piece which appears in The Music of Black Americans combines Braham's tune (Is there a heart that never lov'd) and Brown's text (The sweets of liberty) to demonstrate how familiar songs were sung with newly written texts at mid-eighteenth-century anti-slavery meetings in New England.
